Data on bluetongue outbreaks and BTV occurrence in EU Member States derive from the European Commission’s Animal Disease Notification System (ADNS - http://ec.europa.eu/food/animal/diseases/adns/index_en.htm), whereas the information regarding the bluetongue situation in third countries is collected from data published by the World Organisation for Animal Health – OIE (http://www.oie.int/eng/en_index.htm). In both cases, the data used by EU-BTNET for the preparation of this report are notified to these systems by the authorities in the countries themselves. The data related to the activities performed in the EU Member States under the national serological/virological and entomological surveillance plans are entered directly by the authorities in the EU Member States into the EU-BTNET system, according to the provisions included in Commission Regulation (EC) No 1266/2007 of the European Commission laying down additional measures on control, monitoring, surveillance and restrictions of movements of susceptible animals in relation to bluetongue. All outbreaks data have been completely validated and updated. |
